On October 15, 2024, the CLA stocked 500 pounds of walleye fingerlings into Clitherall Lake, equaling approximately 15,000 fish!
Thank you! to all Clitherall Lake Association members for your generous donations to our fish stocking program. It would not be possible without your financial support!
This lake association stocking is in addition to stocking that is done by the Minnesota DNR. In the spring of 2024 the DNR also stocked 648 pounds of yearling walleyes, equaling about 3200 fish.
We would also like you to know that the DNR completed their targeted walleye survey during the summer of 2024. The survey showed that walleye numbers have increased from about 3 fish per net in 2020 to this summer's result of 5.2 fish per net.
In short, walleye stocking seems to be working!
Previous year's stockings:
In October of 2023 the lake association stocked 400 pounds of walleye fingerlings at two different locations in Clitherall Lake. The average fingerling size was roughly 4”, or 25 fingerlings per pound, equaling roughly 10,000 young walleyes.
Also in the fall of 2023 the Minnesota DNR stocked 870 pounds of yearling walleyes which equaled about 4000 fish.
